5 Ways to Stay Fit With a Busy Schedule
If you’re anything like me, you have a lot to juggle. Your schedule is jam-packed between work, kids, and a massive to-do list. It can be hard to make fitness a priority when you have so much going on, and can be easy to fall into the trap of making excuses. As someone who has been there, I’m here to tell you that you can 100% reach your fitness goals. All it takes is a little bit of planning and a lot of commitment. Here are some strategies that will help keep you on track an on your way to your dream bod:
Meal Prep.
I know. No one really likes meal prepping, but this is a big one. Dedicate a set time each week to prepare foods in bulk. Prepare your proteins, veggies, and carb sources for the week so that they are available to grab and toss into some tupperware. I like to cut all my food once I cook it and put half of it in freezer bags and store in the freezer to ensure that they stay fresh throughout the week.
Keep healthy snack options with you.
We all have times where we get stuck somewhere longer than expected. You’re super starving and just about anything sounds good. How many times have you been in this situation and threw your willpower out the window? Making sure you have some health(ier), non-perishable items such as protein bars, rice cakes, jerky, etcs. will allow you to have something to hold you over until you can get to your next meal without going off the deep end.
Get your workout done first.
If this is an option for you, I HIGHLY recommend doing your workout first thing in the morning, before you start the rest of your day. Let’s be real- there are so many variables and situations that can arise throughout your day and can throw you off for that killer workout you had planned. Why not make things a little easier on yourself and just get it done and out of the way? Added bonus: starting your day with movement will increase your energy and focus for the rest of the day and will have you starting your day with a sense of accomplishment!
Keep gym clothes in your car.
You never know when an opportunity will arise for you to get a workout in! Alternatively, you never know when your perfectly laid plans to workout will be interrupted. Having a spare set of gym clothes and shoes with you at all times will allow you to be prepared to get your training in when you can.
Plan ahead & stick to your schedule.
This is where discipline comes into play. You gotta make a plan and stick to it. Taking a few extra minutes each day to plan ahead will keep you organized and on track. You’re much more likely to follow through with the positive daily actions that will help you reach your goals if you know what you need to do and exactly how to execute it. Don’t allow yourself to stray from the plan unless absolutely necessary, and even then, be sure to have a back-up plan.It can be tricky trying to stay disciplined and dedicated to your plan when life is pulling you in a million directions. Why not make it easier on yourself by having the systems in place that will support your goals and your lifestyle?
